Area: 38 square miles (99 square kilometres)
Name origins: “Cofa’s tree“: derived from a Saxon landowner called Cofa, and a tree which might have marked either the centre or the boundary of the settlement
Weather: 2°C lowest (winter), 28°C highest (summer)
Population: Approximately 350,000 (2025)
Highest Peak: Burton Dassett Hills (approximately 200m) – located just outside the city boundary
Largest Lake: Coombe Abbey Lake (part of Coombe Country Park)
Unique Features: Modern cathedral rebuilt after WWII bombing, ring road system, and distinctive 1960s architecture alongside medieval remnants
Hidden gems: The ruins of Coventry’s medieval cathedral alongside the modern cathedral, the Transport Museum, St. Mary’s Guildhall with its medieval tapestry, and the Herbert Art Gallery
Famous Residents: Philip Larkin (poet), Hazel O’Connor (singer), The Specials (ska band), Frank Ifield (singer), and historically Lady Godiva (legendary figure)
