I’m lucky enough to live just down the road in Stoke, so I’ve made it my mission to eat my way through Cheadle’s finest. I’ve sampled more pies, curries, and sticky toffee puddings than I care to admit (all in the name of research, of course).
If you twisted my arm and made me pick my top three right now, I’d have to go with:

Tucked away in a charming Victorian building, Manor Guest House isn’t just a place to rest your head – it’s a proper foodie haven.
The restaurant here punches well above its weight, serving up British classics with a modern twist. Their Sunday roast is the talk of the town, with Yorkshire puddings so big they practically need their own postcode.
→ Top tip: Ask for a table in the conservatory – it’s the most atmospheric spot, especially during sunset.
If you’re after a quiet dinner away from the hustle and bustle, this is your spot. The dining room’s all dark wood and crisp white tablecloths, perfect for a romantic evening or a fancy family do.
Don’t miss their sticky toffee pudding – it’s so good, you might be tempted to lick the plate clean, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

If you’re after a proper Italian pizza in Staffordshire, look no further than Pizza La Pietra. This little slice of Naples in Cheadle is run by a lovely Italian family who know their dough.
Their Margherita is a thing of beauty in its simplicity, but if you’re feeling adventurous, try the ‘Cheadle Special’ topped with local Staffordshire cheese and black pudding. It sounds bonkers, but trust me, it works.
→ Insider advice: If you’re feeling adventurous, ask for the “off-menu special.” The chef creates a unique pizza based on the freshest ingredients of the day.

The restaurant is in a grand Victorian building on a holiday park, on the outskirts of town. The Grosvenor’s menu changes with the seasons, but always features locally-sourced ingredients prepared with flair.
Their tasting menu is a real journey through Staffordshire’s finest produce. The star of the show is a melt-in-your-mouth Staffordshire beef fillet that’ll have you questioning everything you thought you knew about steak.
→ Good to know: Book a table for Wednesday nights – they often test new menu items then, giving regulars a sneak peek of upcoming dishes.
The sommelier really knows their stuff too, so don’t be shy about asking for wine pairings. It’s pricey, mind, but perfect for those special occasions when beans on toast just won’t cut it.
Brilliant service, exceptional food at a great price, love the restaurant which is set in the most fantastic countryside. Well done and I can’t wait to come visit you again.

The Huntsman is your classic country pub, but with food that’ll knock your socks off.
Their steak and ale pie is the stuff of legend around these parts. The pastry’s so flaky it practically disintegrates on your fork, and the filling’s rich enough to make a millionaire jealous.
→ Local tip: Their secret ingredient in the steak and ale pie is a splash of locally-brewed stout. Don’t miss their seasonal game dishes in autumn.
Pair it with a pint of local ale, and you’ve got yourself the perfect antidote to a rainy Staffordshire day. It’s dog-friendly too, so bring your four-legged friend along for a post-walk pint.

Fancy a curry? The Mughal’s got you covered. This family-run Indian restaurant has been spicing up Cheadle’s dining scene for years. It’s not much to look at from the outside, but step inside and you’re greeted by the mouthwatering aromas of sizzling spices and freshly baked naan.
→ Lesser-known tip: For the best experience, ask the waiter to bring you their family’s favourite dishes – you might discover some incredible off-menu gems.
Their Lamb Rogan Josh is a bit of a local legend – tender chunks of meat in a sauce so flavourful you’ll want to bottle it and take it home.
Vegetarians aren’t left out either – the Chana Masala could convert even the most dedicated carnivore. It’s usually packed on weekends, so book ahead or be prepared to queue.
Food here was really lovely. Best naans I have had in ages. Really great with my son who is only 2. Would highly recommend.

The Red Lion Inn (English country pub)

The Red Lion is one of those pubs that feels like it’s been around forever – probably because it has. Though the building might be old, the food is anything but stuck in the past.
Their menu is a love letter to British pub grub, done properly. The fish and chips here are the real deal – crispy batter, flaky fish, and chips so good you’ll want to write home about them.
→ Good to know: They have a “hidden” gin menu with rare local varieties. Just ask the bartender for their special selection.
But the unexpected star is their vegetarian Wellington – even die-hard meat-eaters have been known to order it. With its low ceilings and uneven floors, it’s not the place for a quiet romantic dinner, but for a proper pub experience with great food, you can’t beat it.
We came for Sunday lunch as a group of 12 and they could not have done more for us. It was amazing food, great service and so reasonably priced!!!! Will definitely be coming back.

Their burgers are, in a word, banging. We’re talking proper, juicy patties that’ll have you coming back for more. But don’t just stop at the burgers – their cakes and shakes are the stuff of legend. One sip of their milkshakes and you’ll be wondering why you ever settled for anything less.
